Are You Making The Most Of Your Best Self Emptying Robot Vacuum?

The Best Self Emptying Robot Vacuum

The most efficient self-emptying robot vacuum features the base that holds one month's worth of debris and empties automatically. It makes a thorough home map, allowing you to mark rooms and define "no go" zones.

It is equipped with superior obstacle avoidance abilities, too, so it is safe from power cords and rogue socks.

Roomba s9+ iRobot from iRobot

This is a top model from iRobot and it performs very well. It is able to move effortlessly across a variety of surfaces, and is extremely efficient at taking dust, dirt and other debris away. It is also very well-built and looks fantastic too.

The S9 is the latest iRobot premium S Series robot vacuum. It boasts a few extra features that make it distinct from other models. For instance the iRobot app makes use of the camera on this unit to create an interactive map of your home that helps it navigate and clean effectively.

It can also automatically return to the spot where it started if its battery gets depleted during the cleaning process, so you don't have to re-clean the same spots. You can manually start and stop cleaning by a voice command, or via the iRobot App. This smart vacuum can even clean in the dark!

Carpet Boost is another great feature. It gives the S9 more suction power when it comes in contact with carpeting, so it will pick up more dirt. It also features the square front design, which is closer to corners and walls as opposed to the earlier round designs. However, keep in mind that this model doesn't do well with shag or high-pile carpeting.

In our tests we discovered that the iRobot S9+ cleans thoroughly and efficiently on a range of floor surfaces, from carpets with medium to hard piles and rugs. It also did well on tiles, laminate floors, and vinyl flooring. It was capable of navigating around furniture and other objects, but it had some trouble with stairs where it might accidentally hit bookcases.

We liked the fact that the S9 automatically returns to its base to empty its dust bin once it's empty, which dramatically reduces hands-on maintenance needs. The dust bin should last for about 30 loads or a month and a half. It's recommended to replace the filter periodically (as recommended by iRobot). We've found that the iRobot S9+ doesn't get loud during operation which makes it a good option for those living with kids or pets.

Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid

Robot vacuum cleaners are created to take care of the work for you and they can remove carpets and hardwood floors. The best ones are monitored and controlled via a smartphone app and some include mopping tech for bathroom and kitchen floors. They're a great option for busy families, and are becoming more affordable than ever before. But if you want top-tech features in your robotic cleaner, you're going to need to pay a little more.

The Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid is a complete vacuum and mopping machine making it a great choice for those in a flat with multiple floors. Its dual motors give it an impressive cleaning capacity, and the vacuum's 0.6l dustbin can hold plenty of pet hair. The dust bin is easy to remove and empty which is great since you'll be required to do this frequently.

It's easy to set it up as well, but I do recommend fully charging the X8 Hybrid before running it for the first time. Install the Eufy Home application and follow the instructions to connect it to your WiFi network. Once you've done this the app will help you create an accurate map of your home. You can label the rooms, break large areas into sub-rooms to make it easier for open-plan living and guide the X8 Hybrid towards specific areas that require cleaning at a specific time. There are many other robots that have similar scanning and mapping functions, but Eufy's application is more refined and user-friendly than others.

The X8 Hybrid has a great feature: you can turn on the vacuum cleaner or mop by voice thanks to the integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. This is a nice addition that makes the robot more hands-free. And it is working well in our test home.

The X8 Hybrid, like many robotic vacuums has some issues with bare flooring. It is prone to miss fur and small objects and can cause bumps to objects like its charger on the charging platform. It's also not as quiet, and the whirring sound could be distracting as with other models.

Roborock V3S pro

The robot doesn't have as many features as some of the more expensive models we've tested however, it does have all the essentials. It has a big dust bin that can hold a large amount of dirt before needing to be emptied. The vacuum and mop system is great for carpets with hard floors as well as carpets with a low pile. It's also quiet. We were able watch the TV while it was cleaning without feeling like we were constantly bombarded by noise.

Our test subjects were impressed with how easy it was to install and use, and they were amazed by its ability to get all the mess out of their floors. It even did a pretty excellent job of removing pet hair and messes on carpeting, but it wasn't as successful in tackling stubborn stuck-on stains. The app was simple to use and easy to understand. They were able set up the vacuum to clean on a regular basis to cut down on manual work. It doesn't include the ability to avoid objects or map technology, which means it cannot be sent to specific rooms or follow virtual borders (though magnetic boundaries can be used).

Another model from the iRobot's budget line which is the V3S Pro has some impressive features for the money. It was the most efficient robot vacuum we tested for mapping and avoiding obstacles. It's also a great budget choice for those seeking a more intelligent, self-emptying robot vacuum that can handle hair and pet messes on floors made of hardwood or carpets with low pile. It's also very quiet and comes with a massive dust bin that holds a lot of debris before it has to empty and you don't have to worry about constantly emptying it.

The V3S Pro did not make it into any of our top picks lists from reliable sources that conduct hands-on tests, however it received high marks from Modern Castle, Smart Robot Reviews and The Ambient. They appreciated how easy it was to install and use, but they did note that its battery life was short and it didn't manage to avoid some of the most difficult mess we've put it through.

Roborock Q Revo

The Q Revo is a solid entry-level robot vacuum and mop that doesn't skimp on features or cost. You'll find many of the features that you'll find on high-end models, including intelligent navigation and mapping, all without spending top dollar. You can even use voice commands using Alexa, Google Assistant, or Apple Siri shortcuts to create custom automations and start your cleaning cycle at any time while you're away.

Roborock has put in the time to develop this clever cleaner. The product is extremely well-built, and it feels like high-end materials were used in the making of it. The base is sturdy and solid, with the charging port built into the battery. On the top, you'll find a dock for the clean water tank as well as the water bins that are dirty. Under those, you'll find an enclosure that houses the sealed vacuum bag.

After pairing your device with the application, you will be able to see a 3D and 2D map of your house that shows you where your robot is located at any given time and the specific area it's cleaning. You can also design virtual barriers to ensure that your robot isn't in certain areas or to only clean certain types of flooring. It can also adjust its power settings according to the type of floor being cleaned and choose the most effective cleaning method.

In contrast to other robot vacuums, the Q Revo robot vacuum deals can lift both mop heads while vacuuming to avoid staining your carpet fibres. In fact, it's one of the only vacuums on the market that can do this.

The Q Revo's suction power of 5500Pa can get rid of pet hair and dust specks when you clean. The all-rubber brush is able to disentangle human and animal hair, as it adjusts to uneven surfaces.

The only issue with this device is that it takes some time to fill and empty both the clean and dirty tanks. Luckily, you can reduce the frequency of this by using the auto-empty feature, which will automatically empty the bin after a few days. There isn't an automatic reminder to examine the level of water on the dock.
